Disclosed is a method of automatically identifying a conference attendee using UIIC codes.

A recurring inconvenience to hosts in telephonic audio conferences is the lack of proper identification technique when large number of participants start joining an ongoing conference call. The inconvenience turns into a bigger issue when participants are attending from locations where access to web and video facilities are not available. An efficient real time identification feature in the context of audio conferences is a requirement for the host in such scenarios.

Currently the phone company assigns Participant Code to authenticate attendees and identify a conference. The phone company only allows an attendee to join a meeting after the attendee enters the correct participant code for that conference. The problem is that since all attendees use the same participant code to dial in the conference, after attendee join the conference the conference chair doesn't know who the person is.

The existing solutions and their drawbacks:

Conference host polls the people to find out the names who are on the call. This verbal communication

works in small meetings, but it can be time consuming and cumbersome when there are large number of attendees on the call.
