In prior art techniques, when IT equipment has been contaminated with dust having low

Deliquescence Relative Humidity (DRH), there were two options for cleaning the IT equipment namely


• Wet cleaning with water and alcohol based solvents and


• Dry cleaning using ionized air guns containing a jet of pressured nitrogen or air.

The wet cleaning process requires cumbersome equipment and the solvents can damage some components. On the other hand, dry cleaning works only if the relative humidity of the air is less than the DRH of the dust on one or more Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs).

Thus, there is a need for dry cleaning the IT equipment contaminated with dust of low DRH.

Disclosed is a method and system for dry cleaning one or more Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) containing dust by heating air to a temperature such that the relative humidity of the air is lower than the DRH of the dust.

FIG. 1 illustrates a device for cleaning the one or more PCBs in field conditions in accordance with the method and system disclosed herein.

In shown in FIG. 1, the device includes an enclosure for storing one or more PCBs. The enclosure enables essentially laminar air flow over the one or more PCBs and provides access for an ionized air gun to remove particles form the one or more PCBs.
