Abstract

The present invention proposes a technique to generate model of clinical guidelines in healthcare. The technique includes a clinical guidelines utilized as an input to natural language processing module which build-up ontology. Ontology generates necessary dictionary and text rules. Based on the text rules and supported by developed dictionary, a text-mining module is run to generate syntax and semantics to mark up different components of role activity diagrams (RAD). Development of automated service delivery model is an important step for widespread healthcare application and utilized for healthcare service providers.

FIELD OF INVENTION

The invention generally relates to clinical guidelines and more particularly to a technique for automatic generation of models of clinical guidelines in healthcare domain.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Currently, healthcare domain includes large amount of variations in service delivery to a patient. Largely, variations occur due to non-standardized or unstructured environment for service delivery within hospitals. Research community in healthcare is involved in developing best care plans or clinical guidelines for various types of diseases or patient conditions based on available medical knowledge or practice. Clinical guidelines are techniques for standardization and uniform improvement of quality healthcare delivery. However, developing service delivery models from comprehensive text based clinical guidelines is difficult and requires manual interventions. However, manual steps are time consuming and expensive, as this requires experts from both medical and engineering background, which include physician and knowledge engineers.


A conventional technique includes a natural language processing technology required for processing of medical record. However, the conventional technique does not allow development of clinical improvement.

 It would be desirable to have an efficient technique to allow development of clinical improvement.
