Disclosed is a method and system for serving one or more contextually relevant ads to a user.

In an embodiment, the method and system scans an image uploaded by the user for detecting one or more brands in the image.  Here, the method and system scans the image based on the user’s consent for scanning the image.

Fig. 1 illustrates the process of detecting the one or more brands in the uploaded image using a brand detection platform (BDP) in accordance with an embodiment of the method and system disclosed herein.

The BDP can utilize one or more image processing techniques for detecting the one or more brands.  If one or more brands are detected in the image, the method and system marks the processed image from the BDP as an endorsed image (EImage) and stores information about the detected brands as metadata of the image.  An EImage is defined as an uploaded image which has been certified as a candidate for serving the one or more contextually relevant ads.

Thereafter, when a user views the uploaded image marked as an EImage, the method and system utilizes an ad mapping platform (AMP) for querying an ad inventory using the metadata of the image to retrieve one or more contextually relevant ads.  The one or more contextually relevant ads can be ads of the one or more brands or ads of brands similar to the one or more ...
