Abstract

Disclosed idea is a method which can automatically adjust UI layout for mobile/wearable device. By using this idea, it is not only to change the whole UI layout into vertical or horizontal, but also can modify to subtle angle change. The angle for each of applications icons/labels can be retrieved by using the exact angle that measured by accelerometers, level sensor.

Mobile/wearable device UI layout auto adjustment system

Most of the OS for mobile/equip device can adjust the UI layout to vertical or horizontal according to the angle that measured by accelerometers, level sensor. However, for the user to hold the device position in vertical or horizontal could against ergonomic. It is difficult for the user to see those application icons/labels at the right angle when he holding the device with an angle. Especially, the wearable device are gaining more popularity these days, and the wearable devices are more difficult to be held in vertical or horizontal position. Take the wearable watch for example, it's almost impossible for users to read their watch at perfectly vertical/horizontal angle. Therefore, a method to automatically adjust UI layout is proposed.

Core idea:

1. It is not necessary to change the whole UI layout into vertical or horizontal.

    2. The accelerometers, level sensor are an almost the required sensors for current mobile/wearable devices.

    3. The angle for each of those applications icons/labels can be changed by using the exact angle that measured by accelerometers, level sensor.

    Advantages:  User can holds the mobile/equip device at any angles, and still be able to see the application icons/label at the right angle.

How it works: 

    1. The accelerometers, level sensor will fire an event to the OS event handler when the angle of the device had changed.
