Abstract

The low C2 polymer is a semicrystalline copolymer of propylene and ethylene. Produced using proprietary metallocene catalyst technology, the low C2 polymer has a unique and uniform inter- and intramolecular composition and crystallinity distribution. A low C2 polymer with low ethylene content enables a distinct ability to improve key properties in cast stretch films such as stretchability, holding force, puncture, and tear resistance as a functional layer of a stretch film. Described herein is the use of a low C2 polymer for cast stretch film applications and in particular for the power pre-stretch sub segment.

Abstract: The low C2polymeris a semicrystalline copolymer of propylene and ethylene. A low C2 polymer with low ethylene content enables a distinct ability to improve key properties in cast stretch films such as stretchability, holding force, puncture, and tear resistance as a functional layer of a stretch film. Described herein is the use of a low C2 polymer for cast stretch film applications and in particular for the power pre-stretch sub segment.

The low C2 polymer has an ethylene content ranging from 2.0 to 7.0 wt%, more preferably from
3.5 to 5.0 wt%, most preferably around 4.5 wt%; and Melt Flow Rate (MFR @ 230°C, 2.16 kg) (Test method based on ASTM D1238) ranging from 1 to 20 g/10min, more preferably from 3 to 15 g/10min, most preferably from 6 to 10 g/10min. The composition distribution and overall crystallinity of the low C2 polymer makes it suitable for cast stretch film applications and in particular for the power pre-stretch sub segment.
