Abstract

Translation Verification Test (TVT) is used to verify the quality of translation for a software or hardware UI. During TVT testing, screen capture testing method is adopted frequently so as to accelerate the testing progress and save the cost, as TVT testers usually know little about product knowledge and also has poor IT operation related skills. TVT testing support team always have to provide screen shot for all PII strings to be tested. Such tasks have to be done page by page and the workload is magnified by the number of tested languages, which will take heavy time and huge effort. Although there are many automation testing softwares that able to reduce such effort in a certain extent. But it's still a headache topic about how to maintain the automation scripts and how to make them work correctly in different languages. Moreover, TVT testing usually is planned for only new/changed PII strings, thus the automation scripts only can be used for one-off, not reusable. Here a new and smart method or mechanism is created to solve such dilemma, which including 1)set up one master machine and some slave machines, the number of slave machines are same as the tested languages, 2) provide a mechanism to record all GUI operations (keyboard input, mouse click and screen capture operations) which occurred in the master machine, 3) then pass and reproduced the GUI operations in the slave machines synchronistically, 4)thus the screen shot for all languages can be captured by a single time operation. All operations in master machine are done manually and the automatic reproduction in the slave machines can be previewed and adjusted anytime. The invention will save time and effort in the ratio of N/(N+1), where N is the number of tested foreign languages.
