Touch-screen enabled devices offer users the ability to use touch functions to execute a number of different operations. Touch functions can be based on gestures, pressure, etc. and allow the user to make menu selections, share content, etc. However, the user cannot feel tactile parameters, such as levels of hardness or softness, temperature, vibration, or motion, while touching a digital object presented on mobile device screen.

A method and system are needed by which a user can feel some degree of physical parameters of different digital objects.

The novel contribution is a wearable finger cap type device. The user can wear multiple such devices on different fingers. The inner surface area of the proposed device is in contact with the skin of the user's finger. The finger cap device has a heat generation coil, spring, vibration generator (similar to mobile phone vibration functionality), and different mechanical fixtures. After wearing the proposed device, when a user touches on any digital object in mobile phone screen, then based on the touch point, the software identifies the selected digital object, and accordingly identifies different metadata of the digital object.

Based on the metadata input, different physical property generators installed in the proposed device generate the physical property in the inner surface of the device and accordingly user can feel the physical property. The physical property metadata of different digital objects can be added based on image recognition method, or the same can be added manually. While sharing any photograph through a social networking channel, the user can manually add properties of different objects and then friends of the user can feel the properties. Once a user touches any digital object in the mobile device screen, the mobile device shares the physical property of the selected object to the finger cap type device through Bluetooth; accordingly, the physical properties are generated in the inner surface of the device. As finger skin touches the inner surface of the device, the user can feel the physical property of the selected object. The finger cap does not produce the absolute value; it produces some comparative value.
