System and method to detect driving records for avoidance

Many automobile accidents are due to bad driving behaviors. Some people have worse driving behavior than others do. A method is needed to assist drivers in avoiding other

drivers who have a record of driving violations or accidents.

The novel contribution is a system and method that uses Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) Communication to inform drivers of potentially dangerous drivers in the area. This reduces the likelihood of automobile accidents. To enable a user to avoid potentially dangerous drivers, the system and method perform the following tasks:

• Broadcasts to one driver the driving record of another vehicles • Receives the driving record of drivers in nearby vehicles
• Alerts the driver when a nearby vehicle is driven by a driver with a bad record

A driver's record is associated with the driver's license. Each driver's license is associated with a car's registration number. This information is easily accessed from databases. Each vehicle knows about its driver and has access to these databases. The information used to indicate the driver's record is generated from the driver's existing records, such as speeding violations, driving under the influence (DUI) violations, and vehicle accident reports. The system can obtain the identity of the driver from the person to whom the car is registered. In the future, if the identity of a driver is obtained using biometrics, or some other means, then the syst...
