A method to synchronize Power enterprise pool information stored on managed systems with Power enterprise pool information on the pool master .

Disclosed is a method to synchronize Power enterprise pool information stored on managed systems with Power enterprise pool information on the pool master.

Managed systems that are members of a Power enterprise pool have pool data stored on them. These managed systems may be powered off or they may become disconnected from the Power enterprise pool master management console. When the managed systems power back on or they reconnect to the pool master management console, the pool master must synchronize the its pool data with the managed systems' pool data since changes might have occurred since the last time they were in communication.

The solution of how to synchronize Power enterprise pool data between the pool master management console and managed system pool members is for the pool master to perform a series of managed system pool queries and perform comparisons with the master's pool data. Using the results of the comparison, a decision is made based on a set of rules determining what action should take place to synchronize the two entities. This should happen when a managed system reconnects to the pool master or as part of a connected managed system power on procedure. It could also be triggered manually by a user at any time.

Figure 1 shows two actors of the synchronization, the pool master management console and the managed system that may or may not be a pool member.

Also shown is the pool data that get synchronized between the two entities.
