Abstract

Disclosed are a method and system to sort hospital wait-lists based on the results of monitoring patients' biological, psychological, and behavioral data in real-time, and then using predictive analytics to calculate the potential risk of unplanned hospitalization or other adverse event. Patients with a higher level of risk are given priority in the wait-list.

Waiting times in hospitals are often very long, which can have a detrimental effect on patients' health. Therefore, new methods that can optimize the delivery of healthcare services are necessary. Researchers have investigated a variety of strategies and developed new methods and tools. Based on the findings, many policies have been implemented to solve the problem; however, long waiting-times still exist.

This novel solution is a method and system that sorts the patients on a wait-list (i.e. for a surgical procedure) based on current health condition. Individuals with higher risk scores, which indicate a risk of hospitalization or other adverse event, appear at the top of the treatment list, while those with lower risk move to the bottom of the list.

The system monitors patients' biological, psychological, and behavioral data in real-time, and then uses predictive analytics to calculate the potential risk. Based on the results of the analysis and calculation, medical personnel can select patients for evaluation before the condition escalates into a complicated inpatient treatment . As a result, the system not only reduces unnecessary treatment costs, but also provides the possibility of better care for patients by liberating hospital resources.
