IP.com 000239800 describes formulations for the use of the following new pigments in cosmetic applications: Reflecks™ MultiDimensions Glistening Gold G280D Reflecks™ MultiDimensions Twisted Terracotta G390D Reflecks™ MultiDimensions Swirling Sweetberry G490D Reflecks™ MultiDimensions Glistening Gold G280D, Twisted Terracotta G390D, and Swirling Sweetberry G490D are experimental effect pigments composed of silica, iron oxide and/or titanium dioxide coated onto a borosilicate substrate. These three products are the latest addition to the BASF Reflecks MultiDimensions family of pigments, which are optically variable borosilicate pigments based on BASF’s patented non-quarter-wave multi-layer coating technology. These optically variable pigments are ideal in applications where dynamic color shifts that depend on the angle of view are desired. The uniform metal oxide coating on each product delivers a high chroma color. The average particle size of 65 µm results in a sparkly appearance of the product. These products, and others that may be developed in the future, typically consist of combinations of silica, iron oxide and/or titanium dioxide and borosilicate platelets in various ratios. These three pigments could potentially be used in a broad range of cosmetic applications, including color cosmetics and personal care. Attached are a number of formulations demonstrating the use of these optically variable borosilicate pigments, identified by their specific trade names and cosmetic ingredient names (INCI). These examples are not meant to be limiting in any way, and one skilled in the art will readily find many other applications and combinations of cosmetic ingredients, colorants, and the above disclosed pigments.
