Companies lose money when infectious disease spreads among its workforce . These losses take the form of paid sick leave, healthcare expenses (with eventually rising premiums), reduced productivity, and missed deadlines.

Known solutions for detecting fever among a populace are invasive , time-consuming, inaccurate, or are ineffective because monitoring is not continuous . In addition, many methods require skilled personnel for implementation . An example of an invasive, time-consuming method of detecting fever is to have employees (or a nurse) periodically take people's temperatures using an oral thermometer . An example of a method requiring skilled personnel and that does not provide continuous monitoring is the infrared monitoring stations set up in some airports to detect passengers potentially infected with SARS (i.e. bird flu).

The novel solution provides a method for continuous non -disruptive monitoring of employees for the first signs of fever. This enables a company to detect the potential start of an infectious disease and then use this data over time to characterize , track, and mitigate the spread of infectious disease among workers .

The system and method consist of equipping employees with a thermal imager integrated as part of the normal work equipment. The thermal imager can be integrated
