Current technology offers many tools and resources through which people can share information and connect with peers (e.g., social networks, professional networks, etc.) The problem is that all these sources of information are not connected or tied into the participants' locations and current activities.

Current search technologies prioritize information based on frequency of access. For calendar specific events, this information is not as accessible and is possibly archived based on time constraints. Users need to be able to identify relevant content so it is quickly accessible with a minimum cost to the information technology (IT) resources
(i.e. network, servers, applications, etc.).

The novel contribution is a system and method that, based on the user's profile, current location, and activity, identify and collect historical and related data. This enables the consumers to quickly have access to information that is important and relevant to the current location, situation, and surroundings. The system and method comprise:

• Event based retrieval of individuals • Location based retrieval of venue/restaurant/activity information and reviews • Tagging based on events
• Data retrieval based on tagging, not frequency or popularity

The novel solution adds a filter or method to define a preferences profile. The preferences profile is established and utilized in the following manner:
