Many times, components fail both in manufacturing or in the field due to contamination (particulate, moisture, inorganic/organic materials, etc.). These failures, when finally retrieved from the field and sent back to the Labs (Power, I/O, Mechanical, Thermal, Materials, etc.) for analysis, it can take several weeks and even months to analyze due to lengthy shipping times and having to go through multiple departments before a final report can be written. With today's push towards being able to analyze data in more of a real-time process, there is a large push towards being able to do the analysis remotely rather than in a lab. One method to analyze failures in the field is through the use of mobile technology allowing a service engineer (SE) to capture the data/analysis and send that information back to a representative (say a materials engineer) to interpret the data, within minutes to hours the analysis is complete, thus reducing the amount of time needed to make a decision on what to do with the failure. This information can also be rapidly supplied back to supplier, manufacturing floor, and/or upper-line management in order to make the best decision on how to handle the failure.

    The goal of this invention is to provide a method and analysis tool that allows failures to be responded to and resolved within a small time scale. The invention utilizes a mobile interface/processor, data capture, and analysis against known databases (manufacturing data, supplier data, field data, chemical/material data, etc.). The core idea of this invention is as follows: Utilizing Mobile, Analytics, and Data (MAD), a service call for a failure in manufacturing or in the field can be rapidly analyzed and a decision could be made in a short period of time. Utilizing a cellular device and/or a wearable device, analysis and data can be interpreted through collection of contamination.
