Abstract

Today, air leakage in Data Centers is one of the main contributor to wasted energy and can put IT resources at risk as the correct air pressure and volume cannot be provided to them. This kind of problem is today very difficult to detect as the leakage can be everywhere in the Data Center. The main idea of my solution is to populate a robot (like a vacuum robot) with the necessary components to detect and report any air leakage in a room. This robot will run cross the Data Center and will look at any air leakage other than the usual one coming from the raised floor.

Today, air leakage in Data Centers is one of the main contributor to wasted energy and can put IT resources at risk as the correct air pressure and volume cannot be provided to them. This kind of problem is today very difficult to detect as the leakage can be everywhere in the Data Center. The main idea of my solution is to populate a robot (like a vacuum robot) with the necessary components to detect and report any air leakage in a room. This robot will run cross the Data Center and will look at any air leakage other than the usual one coming from the raised floor. A black box will be installed on regular vacuum robot. This black box has to be smart in order to avoid any leakage detection coming from the perforated tiles of the raised floor. This is done by analyzing the structure of the tile (perforated), the measures around the location and pictures of the location compared to previous one. The black box needs the following measurement instrument:

· Anemometer to detect the air flow.

· Temperature probe to detect if the air is cold or hot.

· A camera to take and send picture of the leakage location.

· A computer to aggregate the information and send it to a coordinator

Method to detect

When a difference of temperature or a difference of air pressure or air volume is detected then
