Abstract

Disclosed is a method to automatically insert salutation into email according to the predefined rules. In this method, all the information related to persons, including but not limited to full name, nick name, email, age, gender, title, job role, country or region, time zone, preferred language, user setting, customized template and so on, are recorded in a central profile. When the email sender is creating an email (including new, edit, reply and forward), the salutation and greeting text in this email is generated dynamically based on the rules. The generation rules take account into the information of the email recipients in the central profile and the user setting and customized template of the email sender.

Email is using massively for communication in current internet world. When writing a formal letter for business or academia, it is important to use titles and names correctly in an effort to look and sound more professional. Addressing a person title properly will instantly give your letter an air of professionalism.

However, in a globalized world, there are different ways to address proper titles in order to show respect in letter title. Our invention is to have the letter title properly addressed based on the names. It will insert title automatically using a central profile database in where we store globalization data to fulfill different cultural needs. An email sender will never worry about how to address a person in a different culture in communication.
