    Cable lug installation assembly
1.Abstract

This document describes an assembly which makes installing plurality of threaded cable lugs fast and easy on a circuit board.

2.Background

Typically threaded wire/cable lug type connectors are supported on the unit plastic frame before assembly. On assembly the PCB is placed over the lugs and each lug is fastened on the PCB with a screw (which goes through a hole on the PCB).

3.New solution

In this new solution the threaded lugs are placed on the separate plastic holder on subassembly stage. During the assembly the plastic lug holder is fastened with snap fit clips on the bottom side of the PCB. The holder aligns the lugs correctly and keeps the lugs in place until they are fastened on the PCB with screws. The tolerances of other parts do not effect on the assembly because the holder is positioned by the PCB onto which the lugs are fastened. Figures 1-3 show more precisely the new assembly.
