DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Many companies are using online/web-based meeting services for their collaboration tools, especially those companies whose employees are in different physical locations. The user experience of a meeting service is very important to end users. During online meetings, users often take notes when participating in an online meeting. The WebEx® meeting client provides an edit box for user to input notes and save it as local text after the meeting. The user only can input text and the notes can be difficult to understand in some cases. In addition, the user may forget why he/she take these notes or cannot understand what the notes mean when he/she reviews the notes some time later. Presented herein is a method to let users easily take significant notes in an online meeting.

Before describe the details, a definition is provided for "Meeting Context." Meeting Context is the mode of content sharing for content being presented

during an online meeting at a specific moment. For example, the host is sharing a slide, the slide is the Meeting Context. The host is speaking, the audio content is the Meeting Context. The host is sharing video, the video is the Meeting Context.

It is often the case that a user cannot understand what the notes mean when reviewing the notes after the meeting. The notes may be difficult to understand because often there is only text, and it is difficult to glean the Meeting Context at that moment. If the Meeting Context can be recorded and relationships established between it and the notes, this can help the user to understand.

What Meeting Context should be recorded? It can be shared slides, annotation, audio, video, etc. Except the audio, all others can be recorded as a picture, like a screenshot. Audio can be recorded. The techniques presented herein use screenshots to record the Meeting Context and make relationship with notes.

The steps illustrate how to record Meeting Context and establish a relationship with the notes when in sharing mode.

1. Click "Take notes" button.

2. Meeting client opens a dialog to ask user to input notes. In this dialog, timestamp and Meeting Context will be recorded automatically and be displayed in the user interface. After input, the user clicks "OK" to close the dialog and the notes will be saved in memory.
