Typically, users are flooded with content recommendations across social network and content websites. Often, the recommendations provide content to a user which the user may be unable to consume at that moment. The recommendations distract the user from the user's current activities such as working, driving, running, or walking. Thus, the recommendations may be useless to the user and may lead to less productivity, car accidents and a lack of social connectedness in the physical world.

Disclosed is a method and system for recommending content by tracking a user. The method and system tracks user context and recommends content (such as media) to a user based on the current user context, wherein the user context

includes one or more of, but not limited to, user's activity, behavior, user's preference, location, device used, mode of transportation, presence of connected accessories work environment, and social environment. The connected accessories can be headphone, headset and speakers. Further, the method and system recommends the media of specific choice to the user. The media matches a predicted preference for the user from a group of other users by applying a filter of a media type based on the context.

For instance, when a user finishes reading an article/post, viewing a video, listening to audio, or when the user checks news feed, the method and system recommends a selected content to the user. The content is selected by taking into consideration the time taken by a reader to finish an article, user's available time and a number of other factors. Thus, method and system recommends appropriate form of content such as media for the user.

In one embodiment, the method and system tracks the time spent by the user in reading, listening or viewing of different content and then collects tracked information. The collected information enables intelligent future readings/viewing/listening of a user who spends equal length of time. The length may be based on time taken by the user to read an article, view a video, or listen to an audio. Often, the user may spend different amounts of time on different media, and even different amounts of time may be spent on different media at different times of the day. Thus, the system tracks the user's consumption of each media type separately and also tracks user's consumption of each media type based on the time of day. Thereafter, the method and system delivers media to the user which the user is likely to read at that time based on historical actions of the user. The system also takes into account the location of the user

when the media is delivered to the user.

In another embodiment, the method and system tracks the user's location and different forms of transportation used for travel by the user. The method and system also determines when the user is about to travel based on the travel
