Abstract

The present invention relates to a vehicle door and more particular to a door 5 stop arranged on a motor vehicle door. The invention is especially intended for installation and use on a side door of a cab in a heavy commercial truck. The door stop is, according to the invention, arranged on the door in such a way that a turning/breaking torque on the door, when fully opened, is reduced or avoided in the most possible extent.

DOOR STOP FOR VEHICLES

ABSTRACT

The present invention relates to a vehicle door and more particular to a door stop arranged on a motor vehicle door. The invention is especially intended

for installation and use on a side door of a cab in a heavy commercial truck. The door stop is, according to the invention, arranged on the door in such a way that a turning/breaking torque on the door, when fully opened, is reduced or avoided in the most possible extent.

BACKGROUND ART

A door stop is a component installed between a vehicle door and the body or frame of the vehicle and which restricts the opening angle of the door, when fully opened (activated). Normally the door stop is located on the inside of the vehicle door, at a place where there happens to be sufficient space on the

door. A problem with this is that the door stop, when the door is fully opened and stopped abruptly, introduces a force on the door creating a braking/- turning torque around the door hinge axis, which eventually will lead to that some parts of the door breaks and has to be repaired. The faster the door is opened, the greater the torque exposed to the door and its door stop.

TECHNICAL SOLUTION

The present invention relates to the location of a door stop for a vehicle and is especially intended for use in a heavy commercial truck or bus. The door

stop is, according to the invention, arranged to be located on the door in such a way that the turning torque on the door and its hinges is reduced or avoided in the most possible extent when the reaches its outer most position. The door stop should in accordance to this be arranged in the optimal location on the door, i.e. in relation to its centre of gravity. This means that it

will be located, on the door, above or in level with the upper hinge of the door. This position of the door stop will result in that a low torque is exerted on the door and its related components.
