Disclosed are a system and method that provide reminders (audible or visual) based on easily configurable parameters to enhance the lifestyle of both caregivers and targeted individuals. When raising a family or caring for individuals in a common facility, many individuals need reminders to complete tasks, particularly if the required tasks are in a specific sequence. In addition, many individuals do not respond well to directions from existing family members or people of authority. Recording instructions in alternate voices, real or computerized, might be helpful with that situation. When reminding individuals, the ultimate goal is to foster learning so that individuals can begin taking care of themselves without having to carry a device for reminders (although remote configuration can be accomplished by programming an application/mobile device).

The novel contribution is a system and method that provide audible or visual reminders based on easily configurable parameters to enhance the lifestyle of both caregivers and targeted individuals. It allows the appropriate level of reminders for specific individuals and/or situations without the need to carry additional devices (e.g., a smart phone or tablet) around a home or community/care facility.

The system provides customized motivation based on voice command preference (e.g., grandmother's voice rather than mother or father). Positive encouragement and reminders keep individuals on-task. The system provides audible and/or visual reminders, as needed for the situation.

The system is configurable for multiple tasks in a sequence (not just a single task) and can activate specific sets of tasks based on the detected individual using various methods for recognition such as voice or visual cues.

The system records and tracks the status of completed tasks using various methods of feedback by the target individual, such as voice or tactile inputs on the device.
