Abstract

Hovering interactions have been used with touch screens in order to interact with a user interface without having to be in contact with a touch screen. This can both prevent occlusion of the display with a user’s finger and an additional method of interaction enabling interactions. For example, hovering over a thumbnail of a video may initiate a preview of the video, while making physical contact with the thumbnail may initiate full screen playback. Hovering can be expanded to fingerprint sensor interaction in order to further enhance navigation. For example, hover movement over a fingerprint sensor may control cursor movement or movement of an icon.
