Abstract

A method and system is disclosed for recognizing a user’s focused state on one or more computing devices based on feedback from one or more predefined profiles of the user. The method and system, then, executes one or more appropriate actions related to one or more applications running on the one or more computing devices based on the user’s focused state.

Recognizing A User's Focused State On Computing Devices Based On Profile Feedback

Disclosed is a method and system for recognizing a user's focused state on one or more computing devices based on feedback from one or more predefined profiles of the user. The one or more computing devices include, but need not be limited to, cellular phones/mobiles, laptops, personal computers (PCs). The method and system, then, executes one or more appropriate actions related to one or more applications running on the one or more computing devices based on the user's focused state. The one or more applications include, but need not be limited to, instant messaging, emails, short messaging services, and phone calls.

In an embodiment, the method and system filters one or more incoming notifications from the one or more applications based on the user's focused state at that time. The method and system filters the one or more incoming notifications based on the one or more predefined profiles and preferences of the user.

The method and system performs an initial configuration set up of the one or more predefined profiles of the user. The one or more predefined profiles include information such as, but not limited to, selected applications to block or allow notifications, physical location of the focused user, different profile types to allow for different selection of applications (for example, applications used at home versus applications used at work), actions to be taken to keep the user uninterrupted, user mappings to make sure when a specific profile is active, the contacting user receiving a personal message.

Figure 1 illustrates the initial configuration set up of the one or more computing devices and the one or more predefined profiles in accordance with the embodiment disclosed herein.

In accordance with Figure 1, the method and system enables the user to create the one or more predefined profiles and provide authentication information during the configuration stage. During the configuration stage, the method and system enables the user to create one or more initial profiles. The method and system, then presents the one or more applications installed on the one or more computing devices to the user and enables the user to pick appropriate applications for each of the one or more initial profiles. The method and system also allows the user to state a default profile for runtime and provide location information for a desired profile. The method and system, then, enables the user to select applications and devices to block notifications in order to maintain the user's focused state. Thereafter, the method and system enables the user to provide authorization to other users by assigning the one or more created profiles to the other users' personal information, such as, but not limited to, email addresses, phone numbers.

Once the initial configuration set up is complete, the method and system operates in real time...
