To protect an electronic document by covering the part or whole document by an adjustable software masking cover. The word processor available today doesn't provide an automatically adjustable software masking cover to mask a part of the document to prevent it from seeing by others, especially if users is viewing/modifying the document in a public place. Though this can be achieved by reducing the font, changing the color of the text etc, but is not a convenient way to protect the document. There are software masking covers available today, but what is missing is an automatically adjustable masking cover to protect the document based on the position of the mouse or caret. The cover should be automatically adjusting to cover/view the part of the document based on the focus of the mouse or caret. The size of the masking cover can be pre-configured. In addition to the automatically adjustable cover, the user will also have the capability to manually adjust the position of the cover, from where it can be started to adjust, moving down/up or moving left/right. This approach can be further extended to mask even a part of the whole screen of the system/machine where the document is being viewed.The masking cover can be implemented using drag-able software widget over the electronic document.
