Abstract

The disclosed invention provides a technique to improve operational efficiency of assets deployed in healthcare environments. BACKGROUND

The present invention relates generally to location awareness system and more particularly to a technique to provide geo-spatially aware data and analytics for location awareness system.

Generally, geographic information system (GIS) for indoor location awareness provides fundamental structure for storage and usage of spatial data. The fundamental structure is provided by creating map using standard toolsets. Further, GIS includes open source tools and data that are available for integration to hardware system.

Location awareness includes an application suite for building and managing real-time location system (RTLS) indoor space and infrastructure device mapping. The application defines facilities and location hierarchies. Location awareness assigns RTLS devices to locations, then provides rapid initial provisioning or authoring and updates publishing. Further, GIS is used at core for map creation and display.

An exemplary site building process includes mapping creation and modification, followed by support of location hierarchies and integration with RTLS vendor infrastructure. Figure 1 depicts map procurement and interaction lifecycle.

However, RTLS followed by GIS mapping is not effective in providing geo-spatially aware data and analytics for efficient operations of assets deployed in healthcare environments.

It would be desirable to have an efficient technique to provide integration of GIS coordinate mapping with RTLS to provide efficient operations of assets deployed in healthcare environments.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The present invention provides a technique to improve operational efficiency of assets deployed in healthcare environments. The technique includes a system that integrates real time location capabilities with geographic information system (GIS) capabilities to provide geo-spatially aware data and analytics. The system includes locally deployed sensory hardware integrated to cloud based engine incorporating GIS enabled software.

The technique includes a visualization system provided by location awareness, GIS services application programming interfaces (API) provided by location awareness and a vendor integration system provided by location awareness.

The visualization system provides application components to display and interact with location. The visualization system supports UX controls, location hierarchy and navigation.
