Abstract

This technical disclosure proposes a new shifting collar design for collar shift transmission. This design achieves the improvement of the current shifting mechanism by simplification and reduction of child parts. The proposed shifting collar aims at improving the contact pressure between collar and input shaft. It also provides more torque in comparison to the existing methods. The reduction in child part count therefore offers valuable cost reduction.

Abstract:

The shifting collar design comprises following components: Output shaft (1 and 2),

input shaft, locator pins, shifting collar adaptor and shifting collar.

The shifting collar adaptor is installed in the input shaft. This collar is aligned with

the input shaft by the locator pins using the special shape in the internal diameter.

This arrangement allows the collar adaptor to rotate at a precise angle. This helps

in reducing the number of no engagement issues to less than 1%.

This design offers valuable cost reduction as in this design; only one collar adaptor

is needed to rotate around the input shaft. While in previous designs, two collar

adaptors were needed, one per output shaft.

The shifting collar is installed over the shifting collar adaptor. This shifting collar

then engages the input shaft with the output shafts 1 and 2.
