Abstract

This article presents a system and method of test case execution and defect creation. When executing a test case, system under test will be launched automatically and what user does will be recorded and the result will be recorded to test case system; When creating defect, system under test will be launched automatically and what user does will be recorded and the defect will be put to defect system. With the system/method of this article, it's much easier for testers to execute test cases and creating defects.

System of Automating Manual Testing

Currently test cases/defects are separated from the application under test. When executing test cases, it's a pain to record screen shot from application under test then paste to test cases manually. When creating defects, it's a pain to write defect steps in defect system and record/paste screen shot manually.

This invention is to store the execution/recreation step and test result into a media file and store them into the testcase/defect system when the testers executes the test.

This will reduce the efforts of writing the test steps, recording the screenshots, copying them into the test case/defect recording system for the testers.

With this system, the tester/developer only need to replay the media file to see how to execute/recreate the testcase/defect.

When the testers executes a test case, the automating manual testing system will automatically record the screen shots according to the test steps and final testing result in a media(or other) format, put them into the test case system in the end. See below A. Test Case Execution diagram.

When the testers creates a defect, the automating manual testing system will automatically record the steps the test executes as well as the screen shots in a media(or other) format which is stored into the defect system. When the developer needs to recreate the defect,
