Many times in corporate meetings, both live and on conference calls, people are multi-tasking and not paying attention to the proceedings.

Current software products allow people to turn off a computer/laptop screen. In addition, some utilities allow people to turn off the screens when working remotely (i.e. a user remotely accesses a home personal computer (PC) with a laptop, and can close the view on the home PC screen so others cannot view the activity). As enabling technology, products exist the perform eye tracking; however, these are not used to ensure people are paying attention to a presentation. No current product integrates a calendaring function with a PC or other corporate asset PC view closing/blanking.

A method or system is needed to ensure that remote users and meeting participants are paying attention to the presentation and discussion. This should include a remote method by which to turn off participants' computer screens and other devices (e.g., phones).

The novel contribution is a method and system that utilize the calendaring function to help remove electronic distractions and ensure that meeting participants remain engaged in the presentation and discussion. This system is novel, as the calendaring function has never previously been used to promote quieting of the corporate assets. While eye tracking has been done before, tracking eyes in order to produce participation is a new concept.
