Abstract

Invention is used in translation verification test(TVT) to help translators to locate text position in web application as a method. Method is composed of two steps: 1. During FVT process for web application, method constructs the mapping between textual web element location, to text need translation, and takes the screen shot of textual element under target locale. Mapping data and screen shots are generated as the output of this step; 2. Mapping data and screen shots are offered to translator computing device as input. Translator uses computing device to verify the text highlighted by computing device in screen shot by offering text’s id as key. Computing device manages the mapping between key and text value and responses the location where text is presented in screen shot.

This is an invention used in translation verification test(TVT) to help translators to locate text position in web application. The invention contains two methods: a method to help generating the mapping from text string in PII file to web element location in current web page during FVT process; and another method to highlight the location of the text string in the snapshot of web page in target locale.

Normally, translators follow cases that developer provided to navigate to the strings on an UI that he wants to verify during TVT process. Mostly, these cases are from an FVT case or part of an FVT case. It could take a lot of time for a translator to run such cases, especially, when the steps are too complex for the translator because that the translator may have little knowledge of the product, then cost for translation increases during the lifecycle of products. So it could provide great value if a system that could directly provide an UI picture to translators while they locate the string need to be translated from the string source file.

The method provides a system for translators who want to verify strings on a graphic user interface. By using this system, translators could easily get the web location that contains the string to be verified without acctually running the application to locate the UI .

The system contains three parts:

     A developer computing device, that has web application environment with translated build and cases with TVT tag to calculate mapping from web textual element to string in PII files and generate snapshot.

A database device to store pictures and mappings of strings to UIs.

A translator computing device, that could call one UI picture with certain marked string from the database device by inputing the

string to be translated.
