Disposable Surgical Device Display Screen Language Select

Summary

This invention allows the user to select the language for all device status screens that are displayed during the device use. On the Lunar device there will be a display screen that will be used to provide feedback to the surgeon during use. Initially the team tried to develop icon based display screens that could be used globally without different languages becoming an issue. Market research has showed that the addition of text on the screen is more intuitive for the surgeon to understand the device status. This invention allows the user to select their language upon installing the battery, prior to the procedure. This method removes the need of additional device controls or a touch screen. The articulation controls currently on the device will serve two purposes. Their primary function will be for controlling the articulation of the endeffector. The secondary function, only available upon installing the battery during device setup and only when a shaft is not installed, will be for selecting a display language. The user would navigate the language options using the "side/side" articulation control and then select their language with the 'Home button control. Refer to the attached picture for details on how the language will be selected.
