Title: Engine Aftertreatment Diesel Fuel Compatibility Kit
Description: As shown in the attached illustration and described below, an engine aftertreatment kit and process that enables an engine originally designed to consume ultra low sulfur diesel fuel to be able to consume high sulfur diesel fuel while preventing damage to the engine and diesel exhaust aftertreatment system
The Engine Aftertreatment Diesel Fuel Compatibility Kit has components and a process which allow the vehicle owner to remove the oxidation catalyst substrate and diesel particulate filter substrate from an engine exhaust aftertreatment system.
Figure 1 illustrates a typical arrangement of a diesel exhaust oxidation catalyst and diesel particulate filter used in an exhaust system of an engine designed to consume ultra low sulfur diesel fuel.
Figure 2 illustrates a first example process, as also described below, of converting the arrangement of Figure 1 so as to allow for the use of high sulfur diesel fuel. Additional alternative processes are also described below, but not illustrated.
A First Example Process: As shown in Figures 1 and 2, a muffler, or attenuator, is installed in place of the oxidation catalyst and particulate filter. The exhaust recirculation valve may then be removed or disabled. Turbocharg...
