Abstract

This invention includes three methods in agile project to select stories to be implemented in a iteration planning with proper buffer by clarifying estimation of story points of each story and by simulating total buffer actually required in the iteration. The methods enable to include as many stories as possible and to implement them in earlier iteration. As a result, it help to make more value at the project completion.

This invention includes three methods in agile project to select stories to be implemented in a iteration planning with proper buffer by clarifying estimation of story points of each story and by simulating total buffer actually required in the iteration. The methods enable to include as many stories as possible and to implement them in earlier iteration. As a result, it help to make more value at the project completion.

Introduction and Existing Technology
In adaptive software project such as Agile project, Story Points (SP) are an approximation of the complexity of the story, and utilized to represent amount of work of a story relative to a well-defined base story commonly understood by the team. We use Fibonacci series like 1, 3,5, 8, etc. as a SP value. Usually a small number of members discuss about it, and define the value. Velocity is a measure of the team's feature production capacity per iteration in SP. In a iteration plan, a planner selects high priority stories to be implemented. Usually total SP of the stories should be less than the velocity. For example, when velocity is 10 and a 6 SP story is already planned in the story, a story whose SP is less than 4 can be included the iteration plan.

 However, actually velocity is not stable and SP value is rough (Fibonacci series). Usually we define a SP which has a little buffer for each story. So if we simply add SP of each story planned in a iterat...
