Abstract

It is proposed to apply a credibility concept to the internal content represented by links in search engines. There would be organizations that would assess the content based on their own criteria. The users would be able to choose any assessing organization and install a dedicated, provided by the organization internet browser plugin. The plugin (in a way similar tothe antivirus plugins, like AVG) would integrate with the browser and provide rating for each link in the search results. This way user would be able to read only the content approved, recommended or at least not rejected by the chosen organization.

Credibility assessment of the internet content

Nowadays one often faces a problem of credibility of the articles found in the internet. Because anybody can write information about any topic, readers can be easily mis-informed. Current disclosure presents a method for marking the articles on the internet with credibility status according to some predefined criteria allowing reader to select only the ones that are of highh value, accuracy and quality. Scientific world has already solved the problem described in the background. Since bad quality of scientific articles would be a big pain for the community of readers, the articles are not published on the internet, but in journals where they are assessed by subject experts and only published after assuring their correctness and value. There are many journals which assess the works based on different criteria. In some of them publishing is easier than in others, etc., etc.

It is proposed to apply this concept to the internal content represented by links in search engines.

Of course there can be any number of organizations but it will be well known which of them are reliable and trusted and which not (the same as with journals). Moreover, people with selected beliefs would be able to choose organization aligned with them - for example representing values of some political partie or religion.
