It is often desirable for indoor items to be placed near windows to provide maximum sun exposure. Common examples include pet beds and plants .

The novel contribution is a method and system for maximizing sunlight exposure by using a smart motorized platform that moves throughout the day , tracking the area of the sun as it shines through the window. Translation of this invention can be made to other industries such as healthcare and emergency services, where tracking a radiant source is necessary.

The system utilizes a series of solar panels or other sensor technology mounted to a platform on the x and y-axis. By monitoring the charge rate of the individual panels, it determines which direction to move in order to optimize sun exposure or other radiant source. It contains a microprocessor and can integrate with smart technologies to show historical data and/or make decisions from other input.

This system does not currently exist in this technology space.

The system is comprised of the following components :


• Motorized platform with sensors arranged on x/y axis
• Several individual panels on each axis, such that readings can determine optimal

sensors of axis (position)

• Sensors (e.g., solar panels, temperature, vibration, etc.). In the case of solar

panels, the system uses voltage of array of solar panels across x and y-axis to track optimal position of sun and charges battery.
