At a future time, when the associated system determines a new interaction is related to the previous context, it uses the terms to assist the users in the new interaction. A Method for Constructing a Context Specific Conversational Dictionary

Smart phones and social networks have made interactions among users possible anywhere at any time. Interactions can be synchronous, asynchronous, or a mix of the two. Further, users may be easily added or removed from interactions . Often, when multiple users are involved, technology allows the users to actively participate from a variety of devices (e.g., smart phone, computer, short messaging systems, etc.).

Presently, when a new interaction occurs based on a previously discussed topic , users do not have access to a dictionary of terms used in previous interactions on that topic . The lack of such a dictionary adversely affects both the productivity and effectiveness of interactions.

It is known that telephone conversations may be transcribed and a chat history may be locally saved. However, a method of using a shareable dictionary among users that automatically ages terms is not known.

The novel contribution is a method and system for building a Conversational Context Dictionary (CCD). The core concept is to correlate multiple sequential interactions/conversation events to build a conceptual context. The context aids the users during subsequent actions and scenarios by auto-completing, auto-searching for the correct information, auto-reminding, etc. The system also manages the lifecycle of the CCD through aging, prioritization, etc.

The CCD focuses on capturing the context and text of an interaction between two or more users, as it evolves over time, to create a unique shareable dictionary of terms, concepts, and contexts (i.e. themes, ideas, or topics). The system associates the new shareable dictionary with the set of users. The dictionary may contain context that is unique to the interaction as a whole or unique to specific users in the interaction . At a future time, when the system determines a new interaction is related to the previous context, the system presents the terms to assist the users in the new interaction . In addition, the system monitors and ages the context or terms by processing user additions and removals from the interaction.

The system supports multiple technologies used to facilitate an interaction (e.g., smart phone, computer, short messaging systems, telephony, voice over Internet protocol (VoIP), etc.). The dictionary continually updates as the interaction progresses ; users come and go or the context of the interaction refines or shifts . The result is an interaction specific, context aware dictionary that ultimately improves the efficiency of the interaction by providing features such as type-ahead auto-completion for the participants.

The implementation steps of Conversational Context Dictionary follow :

1. Upon invocation, the method identifies the set of users involved in an interaction (the interaction may be synchronous such as phone calls , meetings, chat, etc., or asynchronous such as email, user comments, etc.)
