Abstract

A method and system is disclosed for activating advertisements using mobile device sensors. The method and system utilizes sensors such as cameras of a mobile device to detect user gaze. Based on the amount of time the user gazes at an advertisement, importance or behaviors of the advertisement is changed. The change can be one or more of, but not limited to, play a video, enlarge the advertisement and change the style of advertisement.

Abstract

A method and system is disclosed for activating advertisements using mobile device sensors.  The method and system utilizes sensors such as cameras of a mobile device to detect user gaze.  Based on the amount of time the user gazes at an advertisement, importance or behaviors of the advertisement is changed.  The change can be one or more of, but not limited to, play a video, enlarge the advertisement and change the style of advertisement.

Description

Most advertisers want content publishers to place online advertisements at most important places which viewers cannot ignore.  However, web content is required to be the first priority to be displayed over the advertisements.  If the advertisements are placed at important places or with obvious presentation, viewers might ignore the advertisements.

Disclosed is a method and system for activating advertisements using mobile device sensors.  The method and system utilizes sensors such as cameras of a mobile device to detect user gaze.  Based on the detected gaze of the user, importance or behaviors of an advertisement is changed.  The figure illustrates the method and system of activating advertisements using a camera.
