Abstract

Mobile devices are becoming important and popular. People use mobile devices to perform almost all kinds of operations and view all kinds of data with multiple dimensions. However, it is obvious that there is limited resolution on mobile devices. The searched result is hard to display on one screen. Instead, the scroll bar is introduced to browse additional data. Thus, the data is searched and viewed using one angle. However, the data is with multiple dimensions. Besides displaying data in one angle, it is also necessary to know the position of data in other angles. How to display all angles of these dynamic data and compare data in one screen is problem to be solved. The core idea of our invention is to propose new UI design and interactive method in mobile devices to be capable of displaying and interacting with multiple angles of dynamic data in one screen.

The core idea of our invention is to propose new UI design and interactive method in mobile devices to be capable of displaying and interacting with multiple angles of dynamic data in one screen.

The main points include

- Display dynamically changing data with multiple dimensions in one screen on mobile devices.

- Multiple indication bars are introduced on the top of the item list to display multiple-dimensional data.

- Intuitively show the comparison position of one item among its peers, from the viewpoints of multiple dimensions.

- Use one primary dimension/feature to order items in a list, and put secondary dimensions/features in indication bars for the dynamic display.

- Use one slider on an indication bar to represent the current data value of the selected item in the specified dimension . The position of this slider changes when you select different items.

- Enable users to filter items by setting multi-dimensional data values or value ranges.

- Use an average point in the indication bar to show the average level of all items for a specific data dimension.

- Data of different items can be compared by using these indication bars.

Advantages:

- Users can view multiple dimension of dynamically changing data at the same time

- Users can fast browse the item list and compare peer items by just a scrolling behavior

- Users can select items by setting the data values or data ranges using the indication bars

- Users can compare data of the current item with the average level

- Users can compare the multi-dimensional data of different items to help decision making

- Allow a first-level primary data dimension to physically order the item list, and multiple second-level data dimensions for display parallel
