Method and System for Scroll Pattern Based File Orientation Change

Disclosed is a system, method, and program product for scroll pattern based file orientation changes. A touch screen enabled device analyzes the scroll direction

(horizontal, vertical) and scroll pattern (slow speed, high speed etc) on any multi-content display area. The content is aligned based on detected scroll direction and scroll pattern. Once the user completes the scroll operation, then the content is realigned to its previous state. User may keep a pointer on the initial page (currently viewed content), and when the user changes scroll direction (using alternate page), content will be shown at the same pointer location.

Scroll functionality is required to navigate search results, navigation of files, etc. The direction of scrolling depends on content position in the display. In an example embodiment, the user is navigating search results and the direction of scrolling is defined by the search result. In that example, the user can not scroll the results horizontally; to navigate the search result, the user has to scroll vertically. In this example, the user has limited use of the scroll functionality. The disclosed system allows the user to scroll in any direction and the system aligns the content based on the direction.
