Method For Improved Call Processing During Emergency/Oversubscribed Events

Disclosed is a system and method for improved call processing during emergency/oversubscribed events.

During emergency situations or during periods of extremely high call volume, it can be difficult to send and receive calls. Callers to emergency services are notified of emergency or high volume situations and the voice calls are converted to an asynchronous form of communication that can be better handled by the overloaded network. This allows customers to communicate rather than receiving busy signals or other call failures. This is especially useful when either endpoint is not compatible with other asynchronous forms of communication such as Short Message Service (SMS) or data messaging services. A flow of the disclosed system and method is shown in the

Figure.
