Abstract

In the overhead storage compartment of a cab one or many lighting members are provided for illuminating the storage compartment when opening the compartment. It would be advantageous to use such a lighting member for additional functions or purposes, and possibly create further functions/purposes of using the lighting member. A designed light leakage is thereby provided which facilitates that light intended for the inside of the storage compartment is also used to provide for an indirect illumination of the upper space of the cab.

Summary

US-5775796 relates to a truck with overhead storage compartment and lighting system - it is provided with a multipurpose light source which simultaneously directs light through diffuser into interior or storage compartment and through wall opening to cab.

DE-102006009481 relates to a storage compartment in particular for driver's cabin of lorry, comprises lighting devices positioned in guide rails of a lid.

US-2006/279959 relates to an illuminator for a vehicle interior, that comprises a monitor controller to distinguish between video display and illumination modes based on output of monitor open/close state detector and controls monitor operation based on distinguishing results.

It would be advantageous to provide for an additional back-lighting, indirect lighting, and/or soft lighting in the upper space of a cab, preferably in combination to the normal general cab lighting apparatus.

Description of technical solution

A cargo vehicle is normally provided with one or many overhead storage compartments in the cab.

According the present disclosure an indirect lighting of the upper space of a cab is provided by applying an indirect lighting mode of the lighting members inside the overhead storage compartment in the cab.

Thus, the lighting members inside the overhead storage compartment(s) are activated when the storage compartment is closed and due to a predetermined and designed light leakage from the storage compartment an indirect lightning of the upper space of the cab is achieved. The lighting may have the shape of a soft or dim light emitted from an edge, close to an edge, or in the vicinity of the lid to the storage compartment(s) in the upper part of the cab.

The light leakage may be implemented in many different ways, and in the following some of these will be shortly described:
