Abstract

During hydrocarbon producing, the strength of rock near wellbore region at production zones is getting weak and sand problem becomes severe. Strengthening the wellbore will reduce the tendency of sand producing. This invention introduces a new sand control system through strengthening near well bore formation for high temperature reservoirs (formation temperature is greater than 250F). In attached drawing, metal beads are pre-packed inside of expandable screens, and between the screens there are graded springs as buffer to continuously provide a force on wellbore rock. The force is generated through metal beads expansion when they are heated up at downhole temperatures. The material and size of the metal beads, and the graded spring, can be pre-selected and calculated depending on formation temperatures and required wellbore strength. The matrix of metal beads can also act as sand control medium.
