Abstract

This invention relates a device and a method for Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)dismounting. The device according to the invention comprises a tool frame having at least one pinch roller. The frame supports at least one arm moved by a screw jack, the distal end of the arm is provided with a pinch roller capable of cooperating with the pinch roller of the frame. This device acts as a clamp tool and acts on both sides of the valve and two sides of the tire.

DEVICE AND METHOD FOR TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM DISMOUNTING

SCOPE

This invention relates a device and a method for Tire Pressure Monitoring System TPMS dismounting.

STATE OF THE ART

A lot of cars are now equipped of electronic pressure sensors. Most of these sensors are linked to the inflation valve.

Generally these sensors are conditioned to have a lifetime greater than that of the tire so that it is not necessary to intervene on these sensors. However, sometimes it can be needed to change the TPMS sensor on a not used tire. For example, it can be when TPMS sensors are defective or when the TPMS battery is empty.

When a replacement or maintenance is required, complete disassembly of the wheel and tire are recommended first. The rim is disassembled from the car, the tire is disassembled from the rim. Then, after the sensor is changed, the tire is reassembled on the rim, the rim is reassembled on the vehicle, and the rim must be balanced. This method is long and expensive.

INVENTION

The present invention provides a simple solution for quick access to the TPMS sensor which avoids dismounting the wheel and the tire.

The device according to the invention comprises a tool frame having at least one pinch roller. The frame supports at least one arm moved by a screw jack, the distal end of the arm is provided with a pinch roller capable of cooperating with the pinch roller of the frame.

Advantageously, the device comprises two parallel arms distant from each other so as to allow an operator to intervene easily on the wheel, each arm being provided at its end with a pinch roller adapted to cooperate with two pinc...
