Abstract

An adapter coupled to a cold plate for efficiently cooling high performance circuits is disclosed. A first adapter is installed on an inlet and a second adapter is installed on an outlet of a cold plate. The first adapter and the second adapter are right angled adapter and have similar shape. The first adapter and the second adapter are directly mated to the cold plate.

RIGHT ANGLED LIQUID COOLANT ADAPTER

BACKGROUND

The present disclosure relates generally to heat sinks, and more particularly to an adapter coupled to a cold plate for cooling high performance circuits.

Heat generation is a major problem with high performance circuits.  Performance of these circuits degrades at high temperatures.  There exist various conventional techniques for cooling the high performance circuits.  One conventional technique uses natural convection and forced air convection for cooling the high performance circuits.  However, natural convection and forced air convection offer inadequate cooling for the high performance circuits.

Another conventional technique uses tubing and tube fittings coupled to a manifold or a cold plate.  However, such conventional technique has reliability issues, such as fluid leakage and breakage due to strain and vibration transferred via the tubing.

It would be desirable to have an improved technique for cooling the high performance circuits.
