Abstract

A lifting apparatus for lifting a C-arm of a mobile x-ray machine is disclosed. The lifting apparatus includes a mechanical arrangement comprising gas springs, pulleys, ropes and sliders for maneuvering the C-arm of the x-ray machine. The lifting apparatus balances weight with the help of the mechanical arrangement to make the C-arm move with stability.

LIFTING APPARATUS FOR MOBILE X-RAY MACHINE

BACKGROUND

The present invention relates generally to x-ray systems, and more particularly to a lifting apparatus for lifting a C-arm of a mobile x-ray machine.

A mobile x-ray machine allows efficient imaging of patients without having to move patients in the medical care giving facility. Further, the C-arm of the mobile x-ray machine may be maneuvered upward or downward by an operator for examining the patients. 

There are several conventional lifting apparatuses used for maneuvering the C-arm of the mobile x-ray machine.  One conventional lifting apparatus utilizes a linear actuator and a gas spring to lift the C-arm. However, such conventional lifting apparatus is able to lift the C-arm for a short distance.  Another conventional lifting apparatus uses a constant force spring to lift the C-arm across a longer distance, but suffers from limited working life.  As a result, field engineers needs to regularly monitor the working conditions of the lifting apparatus and replace the lifting apparatus when the working life ends.  As described above, conventional lifting apparatuses are challenged with limited maneuverability, reliability issues or huge maintenance cost.

Therefore, it would be desirable to have an improved lifting apparatus for lifting the C-arm of the mobile x-ray machine.  

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS

Figure 1 depicts a mobile x-ray machine with a lifting apparatus.

Figure 2 depicts the lifting apparatus described herein for supporting a C-arm of the mobile x-ray machine.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

This disclosure proposes a lifting apparatus for lifting a C-arm of a mobile x-ray machine.

As illustrated in Figure 1, the x-ray machine includes a C-arm (30), a lifting apparatus (60), and a switch control system for controlling the position of the C-arm.  The C-arm is maneuvered with the help of the lifting apparatus (60).  The lifting apparatus (60) includes a mechanical arrangement comprising gas springs, pulleys, ropes and sliders (as described in figure 2 and 3) for maneuvering the C-arm of the x-ray machine.

As illustrated in Figure 2 and Figure 3, the lifting apparatus is provided with a front linear bearing (33) and a back linear bearing (40).  The front linear bearing (33) is parallel to the back linear bearing (40).  The C-arm of the x-ray machine is connected to a front slider (34).  The lifting apparatus is provided with two sets of gas springs (31) disposed within the back linear bearing (40).  The gas springs (31) have one end connected to a back slider (10 in Figure 3) and the other end is connected to a top of a machine cart (42).  An operator can move the C-arm by sliding together with the front slider (34) up or down manually, and balance weight is provided by an expansion and compression of the gas springs (31) through blocks tackle (41)...
