Abstract

A technique for humidification using heat generated by a pressure regulator is proposed. Usually, a pressure regulator reduces the pressure of air or oxygen supplied in various facilities of a hospital, or other medical care providing centers. The pressure regulator generates heat in this process of reducing pressure. According to the technique proposed herein, such heat generated by the pressure regulator may be used to heat the water in contained in a humidifier chamber.

HUMIDIFICATION USING HEAT GENERATED BY PRESSURE REGULATOR

BACKGROUND

The present disclosure relates generally to humidification of medical care providing centers and more particularly to a technique for humidification using heat generated by a pressure regulator.

Conventionally, humidifiers used in medical care providing centers utilize an electric heater to heat water in a chamber to provide a stream of water vapor into ambient air of the medical care providing center.  The water vapor maintains optimal humidity for facilitating easy breathing by the patient.

However, these conventional humidifiers using electric heater are expensive and need complicated algorithm for temperature control.  Further, maintenance cost of such conventional humidifiers is also high since heating elements of these conventional humidifiers need to be regularly replaced.

It would be desirable to have an improved technique for humidification in medical environments.
