Abstract

This technical disclosure is about devising a system which provides highly detailed multimedia feedback about forestry operations by combining various data sources and incorporating videos, sounds and data based animations about work flow. It produces automated overall operations feedback which includes suggestions for improvement, development plans and learning curves. The user can ask for feedback of specific operations or assessment criteria. Accordingly, rapid and detailed feedback with improvement suggestions and development plans are generated with the system. The highly detailed feedback for users helps to improve work flow of forestry operations by making systematic problems visible and easier to detect. The highly detailed feedback for users helps to improve work flow of forestry operations by making systematic problems visible and easier to detect. This helps to improve and resolve problems of work flow of machines and machine chains by making new aspects of process known and visible through data and video fusion.

Also, this system can be used to connect forestry data analysis and mining results with corresponding video parts for explanatory visualization, troubleshooting and process development. It has an option to employ video pattern recognition for continuous data enrichment, deriving e.g. working techniques and operations conditions. If unexplainable results in analysis of operation data measurements are encountered, it is possible in this system to forward the unexplained parts of associated video to intense detailed pattern recognition algorithms, giving automatic reasoning and troubleshooting explanations and development suggestions.

The proposed system has simulation capabilities for suggesting execution models, order of execution and proceeding steps for work site, work line-of-sight locations, work locations and work phases. It recognizes and follows application of working techniques. It can derive and suggest changing to most suitable/efficient working technique. It is aware of different work model theories and can assess working model theory versus data video context.

It is also capable of delivering process key values, predictions and process improvement suggestions through different communication channels in real-time and afterwards. It communicates predictive, real-time and post-operation benefits gained from the process improvement suggestions made by the system.

This system gives guidance and education (before execution, during execution and after execution), on- board and off-board, ranging from worksite planning phase to machine process measurements. It helps in monitoring development through learning curves of planning accuracy as well as different specific execution operations. It also points out reasons behind development. This system is applicable to simulator and forest environments.
