BACKGROUND

Generally, the user of heavy equipment feels intrigued to see the machine operation and the measured performance parameters at one time. In the present scenario, this has to be done by pausing the video and then bringing up the performance parameters data screens or vice versa. Another way can be to do

manual synchronization of time in the screens of the measurement data and the video. It seldom leads to a successful synchronization. Very often, one still can observe some time lag. The proposed design offers automatic time synchronization of these two files. The video files can either be live streaming or pre-recorded ones.

DESCRIPTION

The proposed design connects and synchronizes media streams with forestry data so that data may control presentation of media or vice versa. It understands specific data logged in forestry machines. This system offers platform for creating forestry data visualizations plugins and video control plugins that are paired and synchronized with media presentation. Here, media may mean any data stream, such as video, sound, stream of photos etc.

If one would like to quickly see forestry machine measurement data synchronized and visualized with video of forest machine, one would need to synchronize video and data and somehow play it at the same time with the video. Also, when one would like to see video and data in higher or lower frame rate or pause the video/data presentation, he would need to take care of that data visualization and video stay synchronized.

In case of measurement system being in its own time and camera being in its own, it could be hard to get media and logged data synchronized, especially in long measurement periods. This system solves this synchronization problem originating from combining different data sources such as media recorder(s) and external forestry data sources. It also solves the problem of handling the connection between recorded media and data visualizations so that media may be controlled or followed by plugins.

This system has scalable plugin-type architecture. It has software architecture that allows connection between data visualization and media. It offers dynamic addition and removal of data visualization windows (plugins) and connected media player windows. These plugins are free to have independent ways of visualizing associated measurements. Plugins are connected to media viewers through interface so data may be sent to both directions.
