Abstract

Disclosed is a solution which deals with creating a new protocol to switch from one medium to another based on preset triggers. By monitoring noise levels, hardware defaults and bandwidth the disclosed solution will have the ability to identify a degradation in service. At a configurable threshold this solution will enable the switching from one technology, which may require heavy resources to another lower resource technology which is more contextually viable. This will enable a user to continue the conversion using a different mode rather than ceasing the communication completely. There are several patents already available for converting speech to text but this solution isn't concerned with how the medium is changed but with the trigger process itself.

Executive Summary

The idea behind the disclosed solution is that when two mobile devices are communicating via video or chat, each device has the

ability to measure key contributors known to aid successful communication. The contributors in this case being Bandwidth,Hardware(Battery) and Noise Levels.

    If one device moves into a area of low bandwidth or the battery is too low to maintain the current communication then the device has the ability to detect this and switch to a more appropriate medium. Similar to bandwidth and battery, if the level of noise in is impacting the quality of communication then the device has the ability to primarily maintain the communication but also to provide the highest quality of communication possible by switching to a better suited medium.

Background and Problem Statement

    The availability of mobile technology globally has transformed the face of technology and how people interact. While some users enjoy good Internet access, not every user does. In addition most devices are not Internet enabled. The management of communication is key to a successful business.
