Methodology and Process for Defining Services Solutions

Solution Packages (SPs) are pre-defined solutions for a specific technology and methodology. SPs provide a formal way of defining service solutions to technology problems in a way that allows the service engagements to be combined easily into a cohesive solution. Solution Packages allow collaborative software services to describe solutions in a standardized way across products while combining the solutions into a single solution. This approach is implemented world-wide, allowing the descriptions of solutions to be defined and reused globally while adhering to the standards of individual companies.

SPs are used to define software services offerings (solution and approach) for a specific technology situation and are used as the basis for engagement packages (EP),

which are customized to a specific customer and situation (with the intent of defining a

billable engagement). Solution and Capability Packages for a specific technology are created by a Solution Architect with input from Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for the given product or technologies addressed in the Solution Package. Most deliverables

within the Solution/Capability Packages map to a work product or a deliverable within a prescribed method. This makes Solution Package deliverables portable across a company's services delivery organizations.
